The organisation is founded on the belief that the progress of a nation depends greatly upon the knowledge, character, discipline, skills and sense of responsibility of its youth. In accordance with the objectives laid down for the Jawaharlal Nehru National Youth Centre, the institution seeks to create opportunities through which young people can develop themselves and make a positive, constructive and meaningful contribution to society and the nation. The philosophy of the organisation draws inspiration from the ideals associated with Mahatma Gandhi and Jawaharlal Nehru, particularly the values of democracy, equality of opportunity, social responsibility, peaceful cooperation, education and service.
